APPLE GRANTED PATENT FOR SOFTWARE THAT WOULD LET YOU TAKE SOCIALLY DISTANT GROUP SELFIES

Apple Inc., the American technology company, which is known for products like iPhones, iPads, and Mac PCs, among other products, filed a request for a patent for a software that would grant people access to take group selfies while being socially distant from one another.

Reports show that this request has been recently granted. The US Patent and Trademark Office issued the company a patent for the software that would allow for socially distant selfies, which are also called “synthetic group selfies”.

This software would allow a user to invite other people to take part in a group selfie, and then arrange them into a single image.

The background image from the other users’ selfies would be removed and placed into the host user’s image.

It seems as though Apple thought of this software because of the coronavirus pandemic that has placed many countries in the world on lockdown.

However, sources show that the company had initially requested the patent in July 2018.

As it stands, we do not know if Apple will choose to continue with the software.

Notwithstanding, it would be just perfect for creating memories with loved ones despite the social distancing regulations.
