WhatsApp adds support for Face ID/Touch ID Biometric lock on iOS

WhatsApp has rolled out a new Face ID authentication option for iPhones that support the feature, in the latest update to the Messaging Platform (via WABetaInfo).

The Facebook-owned Application has been testing the feature for iPhone X and newer devices in its TestFlight beta releases for a period of time, however, version 2.19.20 of WhatsApp, currently on the application Store, makes Face ID on the market for all users with supporting iPhones.

When turned on, users need to use Face ID to unlock the WhatsApp application, but they can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls when the application is locked.

To require Face ID to unlock WhatsApp, Navigate Settings, then Account, then Privacy, then Screen Lock and toggle on the Require Face ID switch. Users with a Fingerprint Sensing Home button on their iPhones can see an associate choice to need touch ID instead.

With the Face ID/Touch ID toggle enabled, users, can see some extra choices seem below that permit them to activate the authentication demand in real time, once one minute, once quarter-hour, or once one hour.

When the app is locked, if the iPhone fails to acknowledge a face or fingerprint, users will or else prefer to enter their iPhone Passcode to open WhatsApp.

Elsewhere during this update, a smaller amendment suggests that users will currently download individual stickers in an exceedingly sticker pack from the in-app sticker store, instead of having to transfer the full pack. simply choose a stickers pack, tap and hold the required sticker, then tap add to Favorites within the pop-up pane.
