NASA and Tom Cruise will likely make a movie on the International Space Station

Get ready for a movie concept that’s out of this world. Tom Cruise and Elon Musk’s SpaceX are performing on a project with NASA to shoot an action film in space.

“NASA is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the Space Station!” he wrote. “We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make NASA ambitious plans a reality.”

Deadline broke the news on Monday despite the fact NASA didn’t share many details. The Deadline report stated, “it’s not a Mission: Impossible film and no studio is in the mix at this stage.” The movie would be the first narrative feature movie shot in outer space, and while details are sketchy, the report also stated that it might be filmed in “Elon Musk’s space ship.”

Tom Cruise is well known for taking breathtaking risks while making his films. He scaled the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, for the 2011 movie Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. And Elon Musk isn’t new to the entertainment world. He’s appeared in quite a number of movies and TV shows, often playing himself.
