iPhone X lags behind the Galaxy S9 in download speeds

Ookla, the Ziff Davis-owned service that tracks connection performance, declared the Galaxy S9 as the fastest phone ever released. Samsung’s 2018 flagship easily blows away the competition. The iPhone X, meanwhile, is actually lagging behind in dramatic fashion.
The test comparing the latest flagships from top brands discovered that even the Pixel 2 is way faster than Apple’s most advanced iPhone. But there’s nothing as fast as Samsung’s Galaxy S9.
Its lead over the iPhone X and the rest of the field has been credited to the CAT 18 LTE modem. Samsung’s always included top-of-the-line modems inside its high-end phones. The modem used by the Galaxy S9 can achieve download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps.
The lead over its competitors also isn’t small. Ookla’s test found the Galaxy S9 to be 37% faster than the iPhone X and 17% faster than the Pixel 2.
Here’s what Justin Dennison, Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing, said about the recognition:
“This summer, consumers are going to be on the road, at the beach, and relying on their phones more than ever, but without the latest and fastest network technology that’s available in the Galaxy S9 and S9+, their phones may quite literally slow them down.”
Aside from sending out a press release proclaiming its dominance, Samsung will launch a new television advertisement letting the world know who has the fast phone around.
The spot, called “Moving On,” will show a woman who ditches her old phone for a Galaxy. Since she’s traveling to see her sister, she wants something reliable and capable. Of course, Samsung would only recommend its own flagship.
