Google faces $5 billion lawsuit for allegedly tracking users in incognito mode

Google LLC, the American technology company, which is known for online advertising technologies, search engines, and cloud computing, amongst other services, has been sued in a proposed class action.

Google has been sued for the illegal invasion of the privacy of millions of users by tracking their internet use and stealthily collecting information about what we view online, and where we browse, through browsers set in “private” mode.

The lawsuit seeks at least $5 billion, with the plaintiff claiming that millions of users using “incognito mode” since June 1, 2016, have been affected and sought damages of at least $5,000 per person.

The accusation further states that: “Google knows a lot of information about you; what your favorite color is, what your best food is, where you like to shop, what your hobbies are, even to the most intimate and awkward things you browse on the internet, regardless of your browser being in ” incognito mode” according to their advice.

It is worthy of mentioning that this is not the first time the company will face such claims.

Recently, they met complaints regarding unauthorized tracking and were accused by authorities of the State of Arizona for the continuous gathering of information from devices where the location history feature had been deactivated.

Dear reader, what will be the effect of this information on you? I hope you will be more careful about the things you browse about because the company’s private browsing mode might not be as anonymous as we think.
